Galt Island

An Oasis of Serenity on Pine Island Sound

The mystique of Galt Island began with Ponce de Leon's 1513 discovery of the Calusa Indians. By the beginning of the 1700's the mighty Calusa who had dominated South Florida for 1,500 years had disappeared, victims of war, European disease and slavery. Their engineering feats were a match for any ancient New Word people. Their massive shell mounds are still the primary landmass of Galt Island, permitting us to stand and, for a moment, imagine we are looking back through time.

Today we can enjoy the beauty of nature and have all the privacy of estate-sized homesites of approximately 2/3 acre with gated entry, deed of restrictions and private roads. Each of the 15 homesites has dockage capability and a view that is incomparable. The remainder of the island is a historic and conservation area.

Nearby Fort Myers, the City of Palms, is a growing hub of activity with shopping malls, restaurants and nightclubs. One of the city's top attractions is the Edison and Ford Estate where inventor Thomas Edison and his friend, automobile manufacturer Henry Ford once lived.

Spend the days island hopping by boat, beaching, shelling, waterfront dining or simply explore the natural beauty of Galt Island with its private boardwalks and scenic waterfront views.
